Car
From Maputo, head south on Avenida Julius Nyerere towards Avenida de Moçambique. Continue onto EN1/N1, following the signs for Matola. After around 20 km, take the exit towards EN4. Merge onto EN4 and follow it for about 50 km until you reach the intersection with N200. Turn left onto N200. Continue for about 10 km and you will see the entrance to Parque Nacional de Maputo on your right at Km 68. Ensure to pay the entrance fee, which is approximately $5 per person.
Public Transportation
From the city center of Maputo, you can take a chapa (minibus taxi) heading to Matola. These are available at various points in the city, particularly near the Polana Shopping Center. Inform the driver that you want to go to Matola. Once in Matola, transfer to another chapa that goes towards the EN4 route towards the park. You will need to ask locals for the best stop to disembark for Parque Nacional de Maputo, which is approximately 10 km from the main road. Alternatively, you may need to hire a local taxi from Matola to reach the park entrance directly. The total cost for the chapa rides should be around $1-2, while a taxi may cost approximately $10-15.
Taxi
For a more direct route, you can hire a taxi from Maputo City to Parque Nacional de Maputo. Simply call a local taxi service or use a ride-hailing app if available. The journey will take approximately 1.5 hours, and you should expect to pay between $15 and $25 for a one-way trip. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
