Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving, start from Bago city and head southeast on the Bago-Hpa-An Road (also known as the Ayeyarwady Road). This direct route is approximately 80 kilometers and takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic. Once you reach Hpa-An, look for signs directing you to Kaw Gon Cave or use your GPS to navigate to the coordinates 16.8229658, 97.5858557. There is a small parking area near the entrance of the cave.

• Public Transportation (Bus)

  To take a bus from Bago to Hpa-An, head to the Bago Bus Station and look for buses labeled for Hpa-An. Buses run frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes around 2 to 3 hours. Upon arrival at Hpa-An Bus Station, you can take a taxi or a local motorbike taxi to Kaw Gon Cave, which is about 15 kilometers away. The taxi fare is typically around 5,000 to 10,000 Kyat depending on your negotiation skills.

• Public Transportation (Shared Taxi)

  Another option from Bago to Hpa-An is to use a shared taxi, which can be faster and more comfortable than the bus. You can find shared taxis at designated taxi stands in Bago, and they usually leave when full. The ride to Hpa-An will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Hpa-An, hire a local taxi or motorbike taxi to take you to Kaw Gon Cave, which will cost around 5,000 to 10,000 Kyat.

• Local Transport (Motorbike Taxi)

  Once you arrive in Hpa-An, if you prefer a quicker and more local experience, you can hire a motorbike taxi to take you directly to Kaw Gon Cave from anywhere in Hpa-An. Make sure to agree on the fare before starting the trip, which should be around 5,000 Kyat. Always ensure that you wear a helmet for safety.
