If you are travelling by car in the Golden Triangle region, start from the main town area of Kyaing Tong. Head north on Highway 1 towards Tachileik. After approximately 1 hour, you will reach Tachileik. From Tachileik, cross the border into Thailand at the Mae Sai border. After crossing, continue straight for about 30 minutes until you reach Chiang Rai. In Chiang Rai, you will find the bus station where you can catch a bus to Yangon. It is advisable to check bus schedules in advance and book your tickets as they can fill up quickly. The bus ride will take around 15-18 hours depending on traffic and border crossing times. Ensure to have your visa ready for Myanmar.

From any location in the Golden Triangle, you can take a local bus or hire a taxi to reach Chiang Rai. The local buses are frequent and affordable. Once in Chiang Rai, go to the bus terminal and take a bus to Yangon. The bus leaves several times a day, and you should expect to pay between 20,000 to 30,000 MMK for a one-way ticket.
