Getting There

  • Walking

    If you are in the downtown area of Yangon, you can start your journey by heading towards the corner of Bogyoke Aung San Road and Shwedagon Pagoda Road. From there, walk along Shwedagon Pagoda Road for about 1.5 kilometers. You will pass by several shops and cafes, and eventually, you will reach the entrance of the famous Shwedagon Pagoda. Continue along the road as it curves to the right, and soon you will see the Chaukhtatgyi Buddha Temple on the left. Look for the large reclining Buddha statue as your landmark.

    From downtown Yangon, find a bus stop and look for bus number 29 or 37. Board the bus heading towards the 'Dagon' area. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Chaukhtatgyi.
