Experience Doro Nawas Camp

Getting There

  • Car

    If you are driving from the town of Twyfelfontein, head east on the C39 road. Continue for about 50 km until you reach the junction with the C35. Turn left onto the C35 and drive for approximately 30 km. Look for signs directing you to Doro Nawas Camp, which will be located off the C35. Follow the unpaved road for another 5 km until you arrive at the camp. Ensure your vehicle is suitable for gravel roads.

  • Car from Khorixas

    From Khorixas, take the C39 road heading southwest for about 70 km. You will pass through beautiful landscapes of Damaraland. At the junction with the C35, turn right and continue for approximately 30 km. Look for signage to Doro Nawas Camp and follow the gravel road for about 5 km to reach your destination.

  • Public Transport

    If you are using public transport, you can take a bus or shuttle from Khorixas to Twyfelfontein. Upon arrival at Twyfelfontein, you will need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to Doro Nawas Camp, as public transport does not go directly there. The taxi ride will take around 30 minutes and may cost approximately NAD 400-600 depending on your negotiation skills. It is advisable to pre-arrange the taxi with the driver.

  • Self-Drive Rental

    If you opt for a rental car, make sure to reserve a 4x4 vehicle for easier navigation on gravel roads. After picking up your rental in Windhoek, drive northwest towards Damaraland via the C14 road. Once you reach the C39, follow the directions provided above to access Doro Nawas Camp. Remember to fill up on fuel in Khorixas, as fuel stations can be sparse in Damaraland.
