Car
If you are traveling by car, start your journey from the city of Rundu, which is the main urban center in Kavango East. Head east on the B10 road, following signs for Ngonga. After approximately 30 km, turn right onto the C49 road towards Ngonga. Continue on this road for about 15 km. Once you reach Ngonga, look for the coordinates 37XQ+MC8 on your GPS or map application. The Horseshoe Viewpoint is located just off the C49 road. Please note that you may encounter gravel roads, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended.
Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, start by taking a taxi or minibus from Rundu to Ngonga. Taxis are readily available near the bus station, and the fare usually costs around 30 Namibian Dollars (NAD). The journey may take about an hour. Once you arrive in Ngonga, you can hire a local taxi to take you directly to the Horseshoe Viewpoint. The fare for the local taxi should not exceed 50 NAD. Ensure you agree on the price before starting the journey. Make sure to check with locals for the best taxi services available.
Walking
If you're already in Ngonga, you can walk to the Horseshoe Viewpoint from the town center. Head northeast from the center along the C49 road. The viewpoint is about 3 km from the town center, which should take approximately 30-40 minutes on foot. Be mindful of traffic and stay near the side of the road while walking. It's a good idea to ask locals for directions to ensure you are on the correct path.
