Car
From Oshikoto, start by taking the B1 highway south towards the town of Sesriem. Continue driving for approximately 350 kilometers; this will take around 4 to 5 hours depending on road conditions. Once you reach Sesriem, follow the signs to Sossusvlei. The road leading to Sossusvlei is typically well-maintained but may require a high-clearance vehicle. Drive approximately 60 kilometers on this road until you reach the Sossusvlei parking area. From there, a 5-kilometer walk or shuttle service will take you to Deadvlei. Be aware that park entry fees may apply, and it is advisable to check current rates before your trip.
Public Transportation
To reach Deadvlei via public transportation, take a bus from Oshikoto to Sesriem. Several companies operate this route, but schedules may vary, so check in advance. The bus ride will take about 6 to 8 hours. Upon arrival in Sesriem, you can hire a taxi or join a tour group that can take you to Sossusvlei, which is about 60 kilometers away. Make sure to confirm the cost of the taxi or tour beforehand. Once at the Sossusvlei parking area, you will need to walk or take a shuttle the remaining 5 kilometers to Deadvlei.
