Car
To reach Skeleton Coast National Park from Oshikoto by car, start by heading west on the B1 road towards Otjiwarongo. Continue on the B1 for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach the junction with the C39 road. Take the C39 road towards the northwest, which will eventually lead you to the entrance of Skeleton Coast National Park. The total journey should take around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions. Ensure you have enough fuel, as there may not be fuel stations near the park.
Public Transportation
If you prefer public transportation, take a bus from Oshikoto to Swakopmund. The bus ride will take approximately 6-8 hours. From Swakopmund, you will need to hire a taxi or arrange a shuttle service to take you to Skeleton Coast National Park, which is around 40 kilometers away. Be prepared to communicate with the taxi driver or shuttle service about your destination, as not all drivers may be familiar with the park. Ensure you check the bus schedules in advance as they may vary.
Guided Tour
Consider joining a guided tour for a more comprehensive experience. Many tour companies operate out of major cities like Windhoek and Swakopmund, offering packages that include transportation to Skeleton Coast National Park. This option typically includes a knowledgeable guide who can provide insights into the park's unique landscapes and wildlife.
