Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Car
If you're driving in Sossusvlei, head southeast on the C19 road from the main entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. Continue on the C19 for approximately 35 kilometers until you reach the turnoff for Farm Geluk. Follow the signs for Namib Sky Balloon Safaris, which will be located just off the main road. There is no entrance fee required to access the balloon safari location.
Public Transportation
For public transportation, the nearest town with bus services is Sesriem. From Sesriem, you may need to arrange a taxi or shuttle service to Farm Geluk 138 in Sossusvlei, as direct public transport options are limited. Expect to pay around NAD 200-300 for a taxi ride, which should take about 30 minutes. Make sure to confirm the fare before starting your journey.
Walking
If you are staying in nearby accommodations and prefer walking, you can hike towards the balloon safari location. It's about a 5-7 kilometer walk from the main Sossusvlei lodges, which may take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Ensure you have adequate water and sun protection, as the Namibian sun can be quite intense.
