Getting There

Car
From your location in Sossusvlei, head towards the entrance of the Namib-Naukluft National Park. If you are coming from the Sossusvlei Campsite or the Sossusvlei Lodge, follow the main road (C19) towards the park entrance. Make sure you have already paid the entrance fee (approximately N$ 80 per person) at the gate. After passing through the entrance, continue on the C19 until you reach the parking area for Sossusvlei, which is about 60 kilometers from the gate. Park your car here, as you will need to take a 4x4 shuttle to the final stretch leading to Big Daddy Dune.

4x4 Shuttle
At the parking area, look for the 4x4 shuttle service that operates to transport visitors to Sossusvlei and Deadvlei. The shuttle costs about N$ 100 per person for a round trip. Board the shuttle and enjoy the scenic ride which lasts approximately 30 minutes. The shuttle will drop you off at the Sossusvlei area, where you will see signs directing you towards Big Daddy Dune.

Once you are dropped off at Sossusvlei, follow the well-marked path towards Big Daddy Dune. The dune is located a short walk (around 1.5 kilometers) from the drop-off point.
