If you are driving from Zambezi, start by taking the B8 road towards the town of Katima Mulilo. Continue on the B8 until you reach the junction with the C49 road, which leads to the Skeleton Coast. Follow the C49 road for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach the entrance of Skeleton Coast Park. There may be a park entry fee, so be prepared for that cost. Once inside the park, continue to follow the signs towards Mowe Bay, where Shipwreck Lodge is located. The total driving distance is about 220 kilometers and will take approximately 3-4 hours depending on road conditions.
Public Transportation
To reach Shipwreck Lodge using public transportation, start by taking a bus or shuttle from Zambezi to Katima Mulilo. From Katima Mulilo, you may need to hire a taxi or arrange for a private transfer to reach the entrance of Skeleton Coast Park. Confirm with the taxi driver that they are willing to take you to Mowe Bay, as some may not be familiar with this destination. Be prepared to negotiate the fare with the driver, which could range from N$ 800 to N$ 1200 depending on the distance and time. After entering Skeleton Coast Park, you can ask the driver to take you directly to Shipwreck Lodge.
