Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Surkhet, take the Karnali Highway (also known as the Mahendra Highway) heading west. Continue for approximately 80 kilometers until you reach the Sugarkhal area. Look for the P737+9W coordinates on your GPS or a map application. Once you arrive in Sugarkhal, follow local signs or ask for directions to the Karnali U-turn Point, which is a well-known landmark in the region. The drive will take around 2 hours depending on traffic and road conditions.

• Public Transportation

  From Surkhet, catch a local bus heading towards the Karnali Highway. Buses generally leave from the main terminal in Surkhet, and the fare is approximately NPR 200-300. Inform the conductor that you want to get off at Sugarkhal. The bus ride will take about 2 to 3 hours. Once you arrive in Sugarkhal, you can either walk or take a local taxi to the Karnali U-turn Point. Taxis can be hired for around NPR 500-1000 depending on your negotiation skills.

  If you are adventurous, consider renting a motorbike in Surkhet. Rental prices range from NPR 800-1500 per day. Follow the same route as if you were driving a car, taking the Karnali Highway west towards Sugarkhal. This will give you the flexibility to explore the scenic views along the way. Always wear a helmet and ensure you have the necessary permits for riding in the area.
