Getting There

  • Walking

    From the Boudhanath Stupa, head south on Boudha Stupa Road. Continue walking straight for about 500 meters. Keep an eye out for local shops and eateries along the way for a great local experience. Once you reach the intersection at the end of the road, turn left onto Tushal-Mahankal Road. Shechen Monastery will be on your right after approximately 300 meters. The walk should take about 15-20 minutes.

  • Cyclo (Cycle Rickshaw)

    If you prefer not to walk, you can hire a cycle rickshaw from anywhere around Boudhanath Stupa. Make sure to tell the rickshaw driver you want to go to Shechen Monastery on Tushal-Mahankal Road. The fare should be around NPR 100-200 depending on your negotiation skills. The journey will take approximately 10 minutes, depending on traffic.
