Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by heading south from your location in the Mid-Western Development Region towards the nearest major highway. You will want to follow the signs towards the capital, Kathmandu. After approximately 200 kilometers, you will enter the Kathmandu Valley. Continue on the Prithvi Highway until you reach the Lalitpur district. As you approach Lalitpur, keep an eye out for signs for Patan Darbar Square. The square is located in Mangal Bazaar, Lalitpur 44600. Parking is available nearby, but be prepared for a short walk to the square from the parking area. Note that parking fees may apply.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Patan Darbar Square via public transportation, first make your way to the nearest bus station that offers services to Kathmandu. From there, board a bus heading to Kathmandu, which typically costs around NPR 500-700. Upon arrival at the Kathmandu bus terminal, look for a local microbus or a taxi heading to Patan. Microbuses are usually cheaper, costing about NPR 40-100, while taxis may cost around NPR 300-500 depending on your negotiation skills. Ask the driver to drop you off at Mangal Bazaar, which is the closest point to Patan Darbar Square.

• Taxi

  If you prefer a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from your location in the Mid-Western Development Region to Patan Darbar Square. This option is more expensive, typically ranging from NPR 4000-6000 depending on your starting point. Inform the driver to take you to Lalitpur 44600, specifying Mangal Bazaar as the drop-off point. This will bring you right to the vicinity of Patan Darbar Square.

• Motorbike

  For a more adventurous option, you can rent a motorbike in the Mid-Western Development Region. Ensure you have a valid driver's license and wear a helmet. Start by heading towards the nearest main road leading to Kathmandu, following the same route as cars. The ride will take approximately 5-6 hours, depending on traffic. Once you reach Lalitpur, navigate to Mangal Bazaar, where you can park your bike and walk to Patan Darbar Square.
