Car
If you have access to a car in Mustang, start your journey by heading north from Jomsom along the Kali Gandaki River. The road is well-marked and follows the river valley. It is about a 3-hour drive to Lo Manthang, the main town in Upper Mustang. Be prepared for some rough patches along the road, especially as you approach the entrance of Upper Mustang. Ensure your vehicle has good clearance. Entry to Upper Mustang requires a special permit, which you can obtain in Jomsom.

Public Transportation (Jeep)
From Jomsom, you can take a shared jeep to Lo Manthang. Shared jeeps depart from Jomsom in the morning when they are full (usually around 7 AM or 8 AM). The trip takes around 3-4 hours depending on road conditions. Make sure to negotiate the price beforehand; it typically costs around NPR 2,500 to NPR 3,500 per person. Remember, you will need to show your special permit for Upper Mustang when entering the area.

For those seeking adventure, you can trek to Upper Mustang. Starting from Jomsom, trek north along the Kali Gandaki Valley.
