Walking
If you are staying in the Patan Durbar Square area, start by heading northwest towards the main road, Pulchowk Road. Once you reach Pulchowk Road, turn left and walk straight along the road for about 1.5 kilometers. Look for signs towards Boudhanath Stupa. As you walk, you will pass local shops and cafes. Continue straight until you reach the junction, then turn right onto Boudha Sadak. Continue walking for another 1 kilometer until you see the large stupa structure on your left. The stupa is hard to miss, being a prominent landmark in the area.

Local Bus
From Patan, you can take a local bus to Boudhanath Stupa. Head to the nearest bus stop at Lagankhel. Board a bus that is heading towards Boudha via the Pulchowk route. The fare is typically very cheap (around 30-50 NPR). The bus ride should take about 30 minutes depending on traffic. Once you get off, follow the signs towards Boudhanath Stupa, which is about a 10-minute walk from the bus stop.
