Local know-how to help you travel smarter and make the most of every moment.
Walking
From Mangal Bazaar, head south towards the main street (Pulchowk Road). As you walk, you will see various shops and local vendors. Continue walking straight for about 5-7 minutes until you reach the main intersection. At the intersection, turn left onto the narrow street that leads directly to Patan Durbar Square. You will pass by several local cafés and shops. Keep walking straight for another 2-3 minutes, and you will see the entrance to Patan Durbar Square on your right.
Bicycle Rental
If you prefer to cycle, look for a bicycle rental shop in Mangal Bazaar. Rent a bicycle for around NPR 200-500 for a few hours. From the rental shop, bike towards Pulchowk Road, then follow the instructions from the walking guidance. The cycling route will be the same, allowing you to enjoy the surroundings as you make your way to Patan Durbar Square. Make sure to park your bicycle securely at the designated bike parking area near the square.
Rickshaw
If you want a quicker option, consider taking a cycle rickshaw. You can find rickshaws near the main streets in Mangal Bazaar. Negotiate the fare, which typically ranges from NPR 100-300, depending on your starting point. Once you get in, tell the driver you want to go to Patan Durbar Square. The ride will take around 5-10 minutes. The rickshaw will drop you off right at the entrance of the square.
