Getting There

  • Public Transportation

    From Pokhara, take a tourist bus or local bus heading towards Nayapul. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once in Nayapul, you will need to purchase a TIMS (Trekkers' Information Management System) card and a ACAP (Annapurna Conservation Area Permit) at the checkpoint. These permits cost around NPR 2,000 for the TIMS card and NPR 3,000 for the ACAP for foreign tourists. After obtaining your permits, hire a local guide or porter if needed, and start your trek towards Ghorepani. The trek from Nayapul to Ghorepani generally takes about 6 to 7 hours, with moderate uphill sections.

  • Private Vehicle

    If you prefer a more comfortable option, hire a private vehicle from Pokhara to Nayapul. This will cost around NPR 3,000 to NPR 5,000, depending on negotiation. Once you reach Nayapul, follow the same steps as above to get your TIMS card and ACAP permit, and then start your trek to Ghorepani. The trek will take about 6 to 7 hours on foot.

    Once you start the trek from Nayapul, follow the path through quaint villages and lush forests. The trail is well-marked, but ensure to keep an eye on the signs. You will pass through Tikhedhunga and Ulleri before reaching Ghorepani. The trek can be strenuous, especially the uphill climb from Ulleri, which consists of stone steps.
