If you are near Assen, take the A28 towards Zwolle. If you are near Emmen, take the A37 towards Hoogeveen and then merge onto the A28. Exit the A28 at exit 20 towards Hoogeveen and follow the N48 road. Then take the N371 towards Ruinen. Follow the signs to ‘Dwingelderveld National Park’ and you will arrive at the park entrance located at Benderse 22, 7963 RA Ruinen. Make sure to check for parking availability before your trip; parking fees may apply, typically around €2-€5 for the day.

Traveling by public transportation requires a few steps. Start by taking a train to Hoogeveen Station, which is well-connected from major cities in the Netherlands. From Hoogeveen, take bus line 78 towards Ruinen. Get off at the stop ‘Ruinen, Benderse’ which is closest to the park entrance. The bus ride typically takes about 30 minutes.
