Walking
From the center of Haarlem, head towards the main train station, Haarlem Centraal. When you reach the station, exit and follow the signs to the train platforms. Take a train heading to Amsterdam. The journey will take approximately 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station, exit the station and head towards the city center. Walk straight along the Damrak, which will take you directly towards the heart of Amsterdam. Continue walking until you reach the intersection with the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Turn left and walk until you reach the Scharrebiersluis located at 1018 AB Amsterdam, which is near the canals.
Bicycle
If you prefer cycling, you can rent a bicycle from one of the many rental shops in Haarlem. Start at the Grote Markt and head towards the Haarlemmerhout park. From there, follow the signs towards Amsterdam. The route is approximately 20 kilometers and will take about 1 hour. Once you enter Amsterdam, keep an eye out for signs directing you to the city center. When you arrive, navigate to the Scharrebiersluis at 1018 AB Amsterdam by following the canals to the east.
Public Transport
To reach the Scharrebiersluis via public transport, first make your way to Haarlem Centraal Station. From there, take a train to Amsterdam Centraal Station. The journey takes about 15-20 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Centraal, you can take tram line 4 (direction: Zuid) or tram line 12 (direction: Amstelstation) from the tram stop outside the station. Get off at the stop 'Muntplein' and walk towards the canal. The Scharrebiersluis is a short walk from there, located at 1018 AB Amsterdam.
