From Utrecht Centraal Station, take bus line 120 or 126 toward Amsterdam. Alight at the 'Amsterdam, Amstelstation' stop. From there, transfer to the Metro line 52 (North/South line) toward Noord and get off at 'Zuid' station. Then, transfer to tram line 5 towards Amstelveen and get off at 'Van der Helstplein'. You are now in the De Pijp neighborhood.
