Walking
From the central station in Utrecht, exit the station and head towards the Vredenburg square, which is directly outside the main entrance. Walk straight along the Vredenburg until you reach the intersection with the Oudegracht canal. Turn right and follow the canal until you reach the end where it meets the Ganzenmarkt. At Ganzenmarkt, continue straight onto the Zakkendragerssteeg, and then take a left onto the Korte Minrebroederstraat. Continue straight until you reach the Domtoren, the tallest church tower in the Netherlands. From there, take the Domstraat and follow it until you reach the Mariaplaats square. At Mariaplaats, you will find signs indicating the direction to Amsterdam. Follow the signs to the bus stop for bus line 120 or 121 heading towards Amsterdam. It will take you to Amsterdam in about 45 minutes. Once you arrive in Amsterdam, you can use local public transport to navigate to Pontsteiger.
Biking
If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the bike rental services available near Utrecht Central Station. Exit the station and head towards the Vredenburg square. From there, cycle straight along the Vredenburg and continue onto the Oudegracht canal. Follow the canal and take the bike path towards the north. You will pass by the beautiful scenic views of the Dom tower. Keep following the signs for Amsterdam and bike along the designated bike paths. The ride should take approximately 45 minutes to an hour depending on your speed. Once you reach Amsterdam, follow the signs for Pontsteiger, which is located near the waterfront.
Public Transport
From Utrecht Central Station, take the train to Amsterdam Central Station. Trains run frequently, approximately every 15 minutes. The journey will take about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Amsterdam Central Station, exit the station and head towards the bus terminal located right outside. Look for bus number 48 towards 'Houthavens' and board the bus. After a 10-minute ride, get off at the 'Pontsteiger' stop. You will be just a few minutes’ walk from the Pontsteiger building, which is easily recognizable by its unique architecture. Follow the signs towards the waterfront, and you will find Pontsteiger right at the water’s edge.
