Walking
From the center of Boulder City, head east on Nevada Way toward Utah Street. Continue on Nevada Way for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with the US-93 highway. Cross the highway using the pedestrian crosswalk and continue straight onto the path leading to the entrance of the Boulder City/Hoover Dam Museum. From there, take a right onto the Historic Railroad Trail, which will lead you toward Hoover Dam. Follow the trail for approximately 2 miles until you reach the base of the dam. Once at the dam, take the scenic overlook trail that leads you toward Lava Butte. The hike will take you approximately 30 minutes, and you will be greeted with stunning views of the surrounding area.
Bicycle
Start at the Boulder City Parks and Recreation Center located at 900 Arizona Street. Rent a bicycle if you do not have one. From the Recreation Center, head south on Arizona Street until you reach the intersection with Nevada Way. Turn left onto Nevada Way and continue for about 1 mile until you reach the US-93 highway. Cross at the designated pedestrian crossing and proceed to the Historic Railroad Trail. Cycle along the trail for approximately 2 miles, enjoying the views of Lake Mead. Once you arrive at the Hoover Dam visitor center, you can follow the signs for the hiking trail up to Lava Butte. It will be a steep climb but well worth the effort for the panoramic views.
Public Transport
From the Boulder City Transit Center located at 1650 Boulder City Parkway, take the Route 1 bus towards the Hoover Dam. The bus will take you along Nevada Way and stop near the entrance to the Hoover Dam. Once you get off the bus, follow the signs to the Visitor Center. From there, you can access the trails that lead to Lava Butte. The hike will take about 30-40 minutes, so make sure you wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
