Public Bus
From Carson City, walk to the nearest bus stop and take the 'BlueGO' bus service towards South Lake Tahoe. Make sure to check the bus schedule for departure times. The journey will take approximately 1 hour. Get off at the 'Stateline' stop, then transfer to the bus heading to 'South Lake Tahoe' and get off at the stop closest to '1 Heritage Way'. From there, it will be a short walk to the Tallac Historic Site.
Bicycle
If you prefer biking, rent a bicycle from a local rental shop in Carson City. Head east on E William St toward S Carson St, then continue onto US-50 E. Follow the bike lane along the highway for approximately 14 miles until you reach South Lake Tahoe. Once in South Lake Tahoe, navigate to 'Heritage Way' where the Tallac Historic Site is located. Make sure to use local bike paths for safety.
Walking
Walking from Carson City to South Lake Tahoe is quite the trek. You can start from downtown Carson City and head east on E William St until you reach the intersection with US-50 E. Follow the US-50 E route, which will lead you toward South Lake Tahoe. The distance is roughly 14 miles, and it will take several hours, so ensure you're prepared with water and snacks. Once you reach South Lake Tahoe, find 'Heritage Way' and follow the signs to the Tallac Historic Site.
