If you're traveling by car, start your journey from Reno, NV, which is about 15 miles away from the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Head east on I-80 E for approximately 10 miles. Take exit 18 for NV-659 toward Sparks. Merge onto NV-659 N and follow it until you reach the intersection with NV-431 W (also known as Mount Rose Highway). Turn right onto NV-431 W and continue for about 15 miles. You will then reach the entrance of the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest. Be aware that some areas may require a day-use fee, which can range from $5 to $10.

For those relying on public transportation, take a Greyhound bus to Reno, NV. From there, you can use local public transit options, such as RTC Washoe, to get to the nearest area to the forest. Expect to pay around $30 to $50 for a taxi or rideshare trip from downtown Reno to the forest entrance.
