Public Bus
Start at the RTC (Regional Transportation Commission) bus stop nearest to your location in Reno. Depending on your starting point, take the Route 1 or Route 5 bus towards the Reno-Sparks area. Make sure to check the RTC website or app for the latest schedules. Get off at the stop at 4th Street and Virginia Street. From there, transfer to Route 15, which heads towards the Galena area. Stay on the bus until you reach the stop at Mount Rose Highway and Thomas Creek Road. After disembarking, walk west on Thomas Creek Road until you reach the trailhead entrance for Hunter Creek Trail, which will be on your left.
Bicycle
If you're comfortable biking, rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in downtown Reno. From downtown, head south on Virginia Street, then take a right on Mount Rose Highway. Continue on the highway until you reach Thomas Creek Road. Turn left onto Thomas Creek Road and follow it until you see the entrance to Hunter Creek Trail. There are bike racks available near the trailhead for securing your bike.
Walking
If you prefer walking, you can start from downtown Reno. Head south on Virginia Street and continue until you reach Mount Rose Highway. This will be a long walk, approximately 6 miles, so be prepared with water and snacks. Once you reach Mount Rose Highway, turn right and follow the road until you reach Thomas Creek Road. Turn left and walk until you find the entrance to Hunter Creek Trail on your left. This route is scenic, offering views of the surrounding landscape.
Rideshare
Use a rideshare service like Uber or Lyft. Open the app and set your destination to 'Hunter Creek Trailhead, Reno, NV 89519.' The driver will pick you up from your location in Reno and take you directly to the trailhead. This is the most convenient option if you're carrying equipment or prefer not to walk or bike.
