Getting There

  • Car

    From High Point State Park, take Route 23 South. Continue on Route 23 for approximately 20 miles until you reach the intersection with Route 280. Merge onto Route 280 East. After about 5 miles, take exit 10 for South Orange Ave. Turn left onto South Orange Ave and continue straight for about 2 miles until you reach Cherry Lane. Turn right onto Cherry Lane, and South Mountain Reservation will be on your left. There is no entrance fee for the park, but be mindful of parking regulations.

  • Public Transportation

    From High Point State Park, you will need to take a taxi or rideshare service (like Uber or Lyft) to the nearest train station, which is in Sussex, NJ. Once at the station, take a NJ Transit train towards Hoboken. Transfer at Secaucus Junction to a train heading towards Newark Penn Station. From Newark Penn Station, take a NJ Transit train on the Morris & Essex Line towards Hackettstown. Get off at the South Orange station. From there, you can take a local taxi or rideshare service to reach South Mountain Reservation located at Cherry Lane, West Orange.
