From High Point State Park, start by heading southeast on High Point Park Road. Continue on this road for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with New Jersey Route 23. Turn left onto Route 23 South. After about 3 miles, take the exit for County Route 517 towards Branchville. Follow County Route 517 for about 5 miles. You will pass through several small towns, and eventually, you will see signs for Stokes State Forest. Continue straight until you reach 1 Coursen Rd, Branchville, NJ 07826, which is the main entrance to the forest.
Public Transportation
If traveling by public transportation, you will need to take a bus from the nearest station. Start at the nearest bus stop in High Point State Park and take a bus to Newton, NJ. From Newton, you can catch a NJ Transit bus towards Branchville. Get off at the stop closest to County Route 517. From there, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 miles to reach Stokes State Forest at 1 Coursen Rd, Branchville, NJ 07826. Be sure to check the NJ Transit schedule for bus times and any potential costs associated with the bus fare.
