Car

If you are traveling by car, start by getting onto US-70 E from your current location. Continue on US-70 E for about 30 miles until you reach the town of Capitan. Once in Capitan, take the exit for NM-24 N and follow it for approximately 1 mile. Turn left onto Smokey Bear Blvd, and the Smokey Bear Historical Park will be on your right at 118 Smokey Bear Blvd, Capitan, NM 88316. There is free parking available at the park.

Public Transportation

If you prefer public transportation, check for any bus services operating through Greyhound or local transit options that connect to Capitan. Once you arrive in Capitan, you may need to take a taxi or rideshare service to reach Smokey Bear Historical Park, as public transit may not go directly to the park. Expect taxi fares to be around $10-$15 for the short trip from the bus station to the park.

Bicycle

For the more adventurous, consider biking to Smokey Bear Historical Park. If you are already in Capitan, you can easily reach the park by cycling along Smokey Bear Blvd. There are bike lanes available on the road, and it’s a pleasant ride of about 1 mile from the center of Capitan.

Walking

If you are staying near the center of Capitan, you can walk to Smokey Bear Historical Park. It's about a 20-minute walk from the town center. Head north on NM-24 N (also known as Central Ave) and then turn left onto Smokey Bear Blvd. The park entrance will be on your right at 118 Smokey Bear Blvd.
