Public Transportation
Currently, there are limited public transportation options directly to White Sands National Park. However, you can take a bus from Las Cruces to Alamogordo using the RoadRUNNER Transit. After arriving in Alamogordo, you will need to arrange a taxi or rideshare service to the park entrance, which is about 15 miles away. Be prepared for additional costs for taxi services, which typically start around $20.
Bicycle
For the adventurous, biking from Alamogordo to White Sands National Park is possible. The route along US-70 E is approximately 15 miles. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring water, as the route can be hot and exposed. The entrance fee applies to all vehicles, including bicycles, which is $25.
