Getting There

  • Walking

    From the center of Carlsbad, head east on W Main St toward S 6th St. Continue on W Main St for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with S Canal St. Turn right onto S Canal St and walk about 0.2 miles to the Carlsbad Public Library. From there, head south on S Canal St for another 0.3 miles, and you'll reach the intersection with E Pierce St. Turn left onto E Pierce St and continue for about 0.4 miles until you see the bus stop for the Carlsbad Municipal Transit. Board the bus that heads towards the nearest transit hub.

  • Public Transit (Bus)

    Once you arrive at the Carlsbad Municipal Transit hub, take the bus heading towards the Carlsbad Caverns National Park stop. This should be a direct route. The ride will take approximately 30-45 minutes. Be sure to notify the driver that you are heading to Dana Point. Once you depart at the Dana Point stop, follow the signs toward the beach area, where you can enjoy the scenic views of the coastline.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in downtown Carlsbad. Start by heading east on W Main St until you reach S Canal St. Turn right and continue south on S Canal St. Once you reach E Pierce St, turn left and continue to the Carlsbad Municipal Transit hub. From there, you can take the bus to Dana Point, or if you choose to bike the entire way, continue biking south on S Canal St until you reach the scenic coastal routes that lead into Dana Point.
