Public Bus
If you are in the downtown area of Carlsbad, head to the nearest bus stop. Look for the Carlsbad Municipal Transit bus that goes towards the Carlsbad Caverns National Park. You will need to get off at the bus stop at the intersection of National Parks Highway and US-62/180. From there, it’s a short walk to the entrance of the park. Check the bus schedule for exact times.
Bicycle Rental
For a more leisurely route, consider renting a bicycle from one of the local rental shops in Carlsbad. From the downtown area, take the bike path along the river towards the Carlsbad Caverns. Follow the signs for the Caverns, and it will lead you directly to the entrance. Make sure to wear a helmet and stay hydrated!
Walking
If you are staying in a hotel near the center of Carlsbad, you can walk to the Carlsbad Caverns. Head towards National Parks Highway and follow the pedestrian paths leading to the park. It will take approximately 45 minutes to an hour to reach the caverns, so wear comfortable shoes and bring water.
