Public Bus
From downtown Carlsbad, head to the nearest bus stop on National Parks Highway. Take the Route 1 bus towards the airport. The bus runs every hour. After approximately 15 minutes, get off at the Carlsbad Airport stop. From there, you can walk approximately 1.5 miles to the Carlsbad AAFB Aux #1. Head southeast on Airport Road and then turn left onto New Mexico 88220, following the signs towards the historical landmark.

Begin at the Carlsbad Museum and Art Center located on 418 W Fox St. Rent a bicycle from one of the local rental shops. Head east on Fox St and continue until you reach National Parks Highway. Turn left on National Parks Highway and cycle for about 2 miles. Turn right onto Airport Road and after a short distance, you will find the entrance to Carlsbad AAFB Aux #1 on your left.
