From Carson National Forest, head southeast on NM-522 S toward Taos. Continue on NM-522 S for about 35 miles until you reach the junction with US-64 E. Merge onto US-64 E and continue for approximately 20 miles until you reach the intersection with US-285 S. Take US-285 S and follow it for about 80 miles until you reach Carlsbad. Once in Carlsbad, follow the signs to Carlsbad Caverns National Park, which is located approximately 20 miles southwest of the city along NM-7.
