Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the center of the Jemez Mountains area. Head northeast on NM-4 E towards Los Alamos. After approximately 30 miles, you'll arrive at the town of Los Alamos. Continue straight to follow NM-502 E, which will lead you into the center of Los Alamos. At the intersection with Diamond Drive, turn left. Follow Diamond Drive for about 1 mile, then turn right onto Central Avenue. Continue on Central Avenue until you reach the intersection with 20th Street, where you will see signs for the Oppenheimer House. The house is located at 1350 Bathtub Row, Los Alamos, NM 87544. Please note that parking is available along the street near the house, but it can be limited during busy hours.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you can take the Los Alamos Public Shuttle, which operates between various points in the Jemez Mountains and Los Alamos. Check the shuttle schedule at the local visitor center or online. Once you arrive in Los Alamos, you can walk to the Oppenheimer House. From the shuttle drop-off point at the Los Alamos Town Hall, head northeast on Central Avenue. Walk for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with 20th Street, and then turn right. The Oppenheimer House is located at 1350 Bathtub Row, Los Alamos, NM 87544. Make sure to check the shuttle timetable in advance, as service may be limited on weekends and holidays.
