    Start at the Las Cruces Downtown Transit Terminal located at 300 W Las Cruces Ave. From there, take the RoadRUNNER Transit Route 1 towards the East Mesa. Ride the bus until you reach the stop at Avenida de Mesilla and Highway 70. Once you get off, walk south on Avenida de Mesilla for about 0.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Tortugas Mountain Road. Turn left on Tortugas Mountain Road and walk about 1 mile to the base of Tortugas Mountain.

    From the Las Cruces Downtown area, head south on Main Street until you reach the intersection with Avenida de Mesilla. Turn left and follow Avenida de Mesilla heading south. Continue for approximately 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Highway 70. Turn right and then take the first left onto Tortugas Mountain Road. Follow this road for about 1 mile to arrive at the base of Tortugas Mountain.

    If you are staying near the Mesilla Plaza, start your walk by heading south on Avenida de Mesilla. Continue walking for about 1.5 miles until you reach the intersection with Highway 70. Cross over to the other side and take a left onto Tortugas Mountain Road. Walk up Tortugas Mountain Road for approximately 1 mile, following the road to the base of Tortugas Mountain.
