Walking
Start your journey at the center of Lake Placid, near Main Street. Head west on Main Street until you reach the intersection with NY-86. Turn left onto NY-86. Continue walking on NY-86 for approximately 4.5 miles. As you walk, you will pass several scenic views and local shops. High Falls Gorge will be on your left side at 4761 NY-86, Wilmington, NY 12997. Look for the entrance sign to High Falls Gorge, and follow the signs to the visitor center.
Biking
If you prefer to bike, rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Lake Placid. Begin your ride from the center of Lake Placid and head west on Main Street until you reach NY-86. Turn left onto NY-86, and bike along the scenic route for approximately 4.5 miles. Be aware of traffic, as this is a busy road. High Falls Gorge will be on your left at 4761 NY-86, Wilmington, NY 12997. Look for the entrance sign to High Falls Gorge when you arrive.
Public Transportation (Bus)
Check the local bus schedule for the Adirondack Trailways or local shuttle services that operate between Lake Placid and Wilmington. Catch the bus at the designated bus stop in Lake Placid. Inform the driver that you would like to disembark at High Falls Gorge. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and you will be dropped off near the entrance at 4761 NY-86, Wilmington, NY 12997. Follow the signs to the visitor center once you arrive.
