Getting There

• Public Bus

  From Lake Placid, you can take the Regional Transportation bus service, which operates routes to Tupper Lake. Check the schedule for the most recent bus times. Board the bus at the Lake Placid Village bus stop. The journey to Tupper Lake takes about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive at the Tupper Lake bus station, exit the bus. The Wild Center is approximately a 15-minute walk from the station.

• Bike Rental

  If you prefer to bike, consider renting a bike from one of the local shops in Lake Placid. Head south on Main Street and follow it until you reach the intersection with Route 86. Turn left onto Route 86 and continue west for about 18 miles. The Wild Center will be on your right. The bike ride will take approximately 1-2 hours depending on your pace.

• Walking

  For those who enjoy longer walks, you can trek to The Wild Center. Start from the center of Lake Placid and head southwest along Route 86. The total distance is about 18 miles, so ensure you have adequate time and supplies. The walk will take around 5-6 hours. Make sure to follow the pedestrian paths and sidewalks as you approach Tupper Lake. Look for signs indicating The Wild Center as you near your destination.
