If you're in the central area of Montauk, start by heading east on Main Street toward the beach. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with South Edison Street. Turn left onto South Edison Street and follow it until you reach the end at the beach. From there, you will need to walk along the beach path heading northeast. Stay close to the water until you reach the public access path that leads to the Montauk Point Lighthouse. From the lighthouse, you can take the Montauk Point Loop bus that will bring you to the nearest transportation hub where you can catch a bus to Groton, CT.

Rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in Montauk. Start by cycling north on Main Street until you reach the Montauk Highway (Route 27). Take a right onto the highway and continue for about 7 miles. Look for signs for the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) station in Amagansett. Park your bicycle at the designated bike racks and take the LIRR train towards New London. Once you arrive in New London, take a local bus or rideshare service to Groton.
