Start at the Dunedin City Centre. Head to the bus stop at the Octagon and catch the 'Dunedin to Portobello' bus. This bus will take you along the scenic Otago Peninsula. Ask the driver to let you know when you reach the Sandfly Bay turnoff. The journey will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you get off the bus, you will need to walk approximately 1.5 kilometers to reach Sandfly Bay.

From the bus stop on the Peninsula road, follow the sign towards Sandfly Bay. The walk will take you through a beautiful area of native bush and down a steep track. The path is well-marked, and you should allow about 30 minutes to walk down to the beach. Be cautious as the terrain can be uneven.
