If you're traveling by car, start from Palmerston North. Head north on State Highway 3 (SH3) for about 30 km. Once you reach the small town of Ashhurst, take a left onto Ashhurst-Bunnythorpe Road. Continue on this road for approximately 16 km until you reach the junction of Westmere Road. Turn right onto Westmere Road, and after about 5 km, you will see signs leading to Lake Westmere. There is a small parking area available near the lake.

Continue walking until you reach the junction of Westmere Road, then turn right. Follow Westmere Road until you reach Lake Westmere.
