If you are driving, start from the center of Punakaiki, located on State Highway 6. Head south on State Highway 6 and look for the signs for Punakaiki Cavern. The parking lot is just a short drive (about 5 minutes) south of the town center. The entrance to the cavern is well-marked and there's a small parking area available. Note that there is no fee for parking.

Once parked, follow the marked walking trail from the parking area to the Punakaiki Cavern. The trail is approximately 500 meters and takes around 10-15 minutes to walk. The path is well maintained and offers beautiful views of the surrounding nature, making it a pleasant hike.

Depending on the time of year, buses may run from nearby towns like Greymouth to Punakaiki. Once you arrive in Punakaiki, you will need to walk to the cavern as there are no direct public transport options to the cavern itself.
