Getting There

  • Walking

    Start from the Queenstown Gardens, which is a central location. Head out of the gardens towards the lakefront and follow the path along the shore of Lake Wakatipu. Keep walking until you reach the end of the gardens where the path intersects with the lakeside road, known as Marine Parade. Continue walking along Marine Parade until you reach the intersection with Shotover Street. Turn left onto Shotover Street and walk until you reach the junction with Frankton Road. Here, you will need to cross to the other side of the road. Continue walking on Frankton Road, and after approximately 1.5 kilometers, you will come across a small trail leading up towards Willow Tree Lookout on your left. Follow this trail uphill until you reach the lookout point, which offers stunning views of the lake and the surrounding mountains.

    From the Queenstown bus station, you can catch the Route 1 bus towards Frankton. Make sure to check the bus schedule for the latest times. The bus will take you along Frankton Road. Get off at the Frankton stop closest to the intersection with Lake Avenue. From there, walk down Lake Avenue until you reach the waterfront. Follow the lakeside path until you connect with Frankton Road again. Continue walking on Frankton Road, and after about 1.5 kilometers, look for the trail leading up to Willow Tree Lookout on your left. Ascend the trail to reach the lookout.
