Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving from Leon Volcano Boarding, head west on the main road (Carretera a Las Peñitas) towards the town of Las Peñitas. Continue for about 25 minutes until you reach the beach area. As you approach Las Peñitas, watch for the signs indicating the San Juan Venado Estuary. You will look for an intersection with a sign for San Juan Venado Estuary. Turn left onto the road that leads to the Estuary Office. The office is located at the coordinates 12.3593385, -87.0169115.

• Public Transportation

  To reach the San Juan Venado Estuary Office via public transportation, start by taking a taxi or a local bus from Leon to Las Peñitas. The fare for a local bus is typically around 20-30 Nicaraguan córdobas (about 1 USD). Once you arrive in Las Peñitas, you can walk or take a short taxi ride to the San Juan Venado Estuary Office. The office is approximately 2 km from the main bus stop in Las Peñitas. Look for signs pointing to the Estuary Office or ask locals for directions.

• Bicycle

  For those adventurous enough to cycle, you can rent a bicycle in Leon and follow the same route as driving. The ride to Las Peñitas is about 13 km and takes approximately 1 hour. Ensure you're prepared for the heat and bring plenty of water. Once you reach Las Peñitas, follow the same path to the Estuary Office as mentioned above.
