Walking
Start at the Appalachian State University campus located in Boone. Head southwest on King Street (US-321) for about 0.5 miles. Continue straight until you reach a traffic light at the intersection with Hardin Street (NC-194). Turn left onto Hardin Street and walk for about 0.3 miles. After passing the Watauga County Library on your right, you will reach the intersection with Howards Knob Road. Turn right onto Howards Knob Road and follow it for approximately 0.5 miles. The entrance to Howards Knob County Park will be on your left.
Public Transit
If you prefer using public transportation, take the AppalCart bus service from the Boone Town Center. Board the 'Red Route' bus and ride for about 15 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the intersection of Hardin Street and Howards Knob Road. From there, it’s a short 10-minute walk. Head northeast on Hardin Street until you reach Howards Knob Road, then turn left and walk another 0.5 miles until you see the park entrance on your left.
