To reach the President James K. Polk State Historic Site from Uptown Charlotte, start by walking to the Charlotte Transportation Center located at 300 East Trade Street. From there, take the LYNX Blue Line light rail towards I-485/South Boulevard. Ride the train for approximately 20 minutes until you reach the South Boulevard Station. Once you exit the train, transfer to Bus 79X towards Pineville. The bus ride will take around 10-15 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to the intersection of Lancaster Highway and Pineville-Matthews Road. From there, it’s a short walk (approximately 0.5 miles) south along Lancaster Highway to reach the historic site at 12031 Lancaster Hwy, Pineville, NC 28134.

If you prefer to bike, you can rent a bicycle from a local bike-sharing service. Start from the center of Charlotte and head south on South Tryon Street. Continue on South Tryon until you reach the intersection with East Arrowood Road. Take a left onto Arrowood Road and follow it until you reach Lancaster Highway. Turn right onto Lancaster Highway and continue for about 5 miles until you reach 12031 Lancaster Hwy, Pineville, NC 28134.
