Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start by heading north on US-15 N from downtown Durham. Merge onto I-85 N and then take exit 178 for US-70 W toward Hillsborough. Continue on US-70 W for about 5 miles. Take the exit toward Old Oxford Highway, and turn left onto Old Oxford Highway. Continue for approximately 2 miles, and you will see Stagville State Historic Site on your right at 5828 Old Oxford Highway, Durham, NC 27712. Parking is available on-site.

• Public Transportation

  To reach Stagville State Historic Site using public transportation, start by taking the GoDurham bus route 6 from downtown Durham towards the Northgate Mall. Transfer to the GoTriangle route 300 at the Northgate Mall, which heads toward the Hillsborough area. Get off at the stop closest to Old Oxford Highway. From there, you may need to walk approximately 1 mile to reach Stagville, as bus service directly to the site is limited. Consider ridesharing services or local taxis for this last leg if walking isn't feasible.

• Bicycle

  For those who are adventurous and prefer cycling, you can bike from downtown Durham. Start by heading northwest on Main Street towards the American Tobacco Trail. Follow the trail until you reach the intersection with Old Oxford Highway. Turn left and continue north on Old Oxford Highway for about 4 miles until you reach Stagville State Historic Site. Be sure to wear a helmet and follow all safety rules while cycling.
