Getting There

• Car

  If you are driving, start by heading north on NC-105 N from Foothills. Continue for approximately 12 miles until you reach the intersection with Tynecastle Hwy (NC-184). Turn left onto Tynecastle Hwy and drive for about 3 miles. You will see Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster on your right at 3265 Tynecastle Hwy, Banner Elk, NC 28604. Look for the entrance sign and parking area.

• Public Transportation

  If you are using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus or shuttle service from Foothills to Boone, NC. Once in Boone, transfer to a local transit service that operates routes toward Banner Elk. Check schedules in advance, as service may vary. Once you arrive in Banner Elk, you can take a taxi or rideshare service for the final 3 miles to Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster. The address is 3265 Tynecastle Hwy, Banner Elk, NC 28604.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, start your journey on NC-105 N from Foothills. The ride is approximately 15 miles and can be quite scenic. Be aware of traffic, especially as you approach Tynecastle Hwy. Follow Tynecastle Hwy for about 3 miles until you reach the coaster. Ensure you have proper gear and a bike map for safety.

• Walking

  Walking to Wilderness Run Alpine Coaster is not recommended due to the distance and lack of sidewalks along NC-105 N and Tynecastle Hwy. If you are staying in a nearby hotel, consider using a rideshare service or taxi for the last leg of the journey.
