Follow NC-109 for about 15 miles until you reach the junction with US-25. Turn left onto US-25 North. After about 3 miles, you will see signs for Tanyard Gap. Follow the signs to the parking area at Tanyard Gap. From the parking lot, the Rich Mountain Fire Tower is accessible via a short hiking trail.
