From anywhere within Little Missouri National Grassland, head towards the nearest main road, which is Highway 200. If you're not directly on Highway 200, use local roads to connect. Once on Highway 200, travel west until you reach the intersection with Highway 22. Turn south onto Highway 22. Continue on Highway 22 for about 10 miles until you reach the town of Killdeer. In Killdeer, turn left onto Killdeer Mt Battlefield Rd. Follow this road for approximately 4 miles, and you will arrive at Killdeer Mountain Battlefield State Historic Site.
